Frequently asked questions

Below you will find the answer to many questions we are often asked. If there is anything that you would like to discuss that isn’t listed below, please get in touch.

How many sessions will I need?

Sessions are normally open ended but if you would prefer a more time limited approach to frequency of sessions, then this is something you can discuss with your therapist in your initial session.

Which platform is used for sessions?

We use the online video platform, Microsoft Teams, so we ask that you have a good wifi connection.

Are all therapists accredited/verified?

Yes, all our therapists are fully qualified, registered accredited members of counselling and psychotherapy accredited bodies. They all hold indemnity insurance and are certified by the British Government DBS scheme.

What is the cost?

Each session costs 3,300¥

How do I pay?

We accept payment by Wechat Pay and Union Pay. Payments are made in advance of each session.

How do I know my counsellor is working ethically?

All counselling psychotherapy professional bodies in the UK require counsellors to have regular clinical supervision.

What is the cancellation policy?

In your initial session your therapist will discuss the working agreement and contract with you. The British Online Therapists cancellation policy is, if there is a missed session this is paid for.

Do you have non British-speaking therapists?

We are offering an-English speaking service.

How do you deal with confidentiality?

All our therapists work from confidential spaces, we ask that you do the same too. All therapists are bound by an ethical framework.

All counselling is confidential subject to the constraints of English law and ethical practice. Your counsellor has a legal duty to report anything to do with terrorism or acts of terror.

If you were to disclose matters involving a serious/life-threatening risk of harm to self or others, they might have to act on it. If something like that came up, they would talk with you about it. Where possible, we would not break confidence without your prior knowledge and, ideally, consent.

Therapists will ask for a name of next of kin in case a situation should arise for either party

What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

Counselling/psychotherapy/therapy are both forms of talking therapy, usually practiced as one-to-one sessions. Differences will be dependent on what type of therapist (psychotherapist, counsellor, psychologist, psychiatrist) or the type of talking therapy offered (Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytic, Integrative, Humanistic, Person Centred, CBT, Transpersonal). There are many so please do get in touch with any questions!
